Bozeman Health and Rehabilitation Center Scores a Perfect Survey

Bozeman, MT - August 20, 2009
Bozeman Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as Evergreen Bozeman, has recently learned that it received the equivalent of an "A Plus" and passed the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services health care quality inspection with a perfect score.

"I am incredibly proud of our healthcare professionals and staff," said Nathan Purdy, MD, MHSA, Executive Director of Bozeman Health and Rehabilitation Center. "This annual survey reflects the accomplishments of the previous year and a perfect health survey really demonstrates the tenacity and determination of the entire staff."

"Our bureau surveys participating facilities that utilize Medicare and Medicaid," said Jill Caldwell, Bureau Chief for Certification at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. "The surveys utilize observation, interviews and record reviews, and Bozeman Health & Rehabilitation Center qualified for recertification."

As one of the most highly regulated industries in the country, nursing facilities face intense scrutiny and oversight, especially as compared to other long-term care services including personal care and assisted living. The state regulatory agency has determined that Bozeman Health and Rehabilitation Center is 'deficiency free' and in the parlance of healthcare regulations that is the equivalent of perfection.

The Federally mandated state healthcare survey assesses the quality of care and quality of life of facilities' residents. State inspectors look at nursing services, social services, activities, food service and nutrition, housekeeping, management, staff training and qualifications, as well as the overall well being of residents.

"One thing I can say about this facility is that people listen to you like you matter," said resident Peggy Sullivan. "If they don't know the answer they find someone who does."

Another enhancement is the addition of new types of training and more highly qualified professionals for outpatient of high acuity in-patient care. Skilled nursing care is the highest level of long-term care and includes therapy and professional staff not normally found in lower levels of care, such as in assisted living care. It is very important to place loved ones in the appropriate level of care to assure that their needs are met.

"It is our responsibility, as well as our honor, to have positive daily impact on our residents' lives," added Dr. Purdy. "The survey results officially prove that Bozeman Health Rehabilitation Center is a healthy and happy facility. We provide residents with community-respected, long-term rehabilitation and more than just a pretty place to live."
